Interns-Externs shall mean such persons who are pursuing academic or professional course of study, irrespective of the year of study, whether in regular full-time or part-time mode or through distance learning or otherwise. Interns typically serve for a period ranging from 4 weeks to 12 weeks, while Externs serve for a period equal to or less than 4 weeks.
Trainees shall mean, without prejudice to the classification of ‘Interns-Externs’, persons who are pursuing final year of study in any post-graduate academic course or graduate professional course. Trainees typically serve for a period ranging from 12 weeks to 24 weeks, however for lesser period, Traineers are inducted only as ‘Interns-Externs’ specifically.
Professionals shall mean such persons who have acquired qualification as may be regulated by a statutory authority and shall include persons having sector-specific or work specific expertise, whether preceded by a formal education or not. Professionals may be freshers or experienced and may be designated as Consultants, Associates and others.
